bc master bath

There were two primary objectives for this master bathroom remodel. The first was to update and modernize the existing finishes and fixtures. The next objective was to increase the perceived volume without adversely affecting adjacent spaces. The design solution started with relocating the toilet compartment. The north wall was shifted 16” into the master bedroom. A large skylight was installed that penetrates the volume and allows natural light to flood the space. These modifications amplify and simplify the perceived volume of the room. To enhance and exaggerate the length of the room a wood accent was applied at its terminus. A “floating” vanity, extending from the toilet space to existing column location, matches the wood accent finish - acting in stark contrast to the white tile and walls. Opposite the vanity, the shower and ofuro soaking tub are framed in tile with a quartz capped bench that unites the composition.
